Tactical Data Link

Rigorous link testing conducted in SMS Defence Solutions's Melbourne test laboratory

Through the process of integrating a number of defence sensor and C2 systems, SMS Defence Solutions has developed a detailed understanding of tactical data link messaging formats. SMS Defence Solutions has developed messaging libraries for the following tactical data link formats:

  • Link-16 (TADIL-J)
  • Link-11 (TADIL-M)
  • JREAP
  • OTHT-Gold
  • ASTERIX
  • DIS
  • TADRS
  • ADFORMS
  • EUROCAT-MIL

and the following data link formats are currently under development:

  • ASMTF
  • VMF
  • AFTN
  • ACSS

Our process for expanding to additional message types and formats involves validation against a known reference source. For example, a number of J-Series message types were successfully validated against both Air Defence Systems Integrator (ADSI®) by Ultra Electronics, and the Multi Source Correlator Tracker (MSCT®), by Raytheon Solipsys.

SMS Defence Solutions messaging libraries are deployed within a number of developed C2 integration and simulation systems and SMS Defence Solutions has made these messaging libraries available to customer organisations.
