RECENT ENGAGEMENTS
SMS Management & Technology (UK) has been working with Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) in the Compliance & Enforcement change programme managing the delivery of critical projects. Some of the key projects aim to:
• Increase productivity and efficiency in compliance and risk assessment within the Corporations Tax regime
• Build a new data management platform and data marts to provide improved functionality and better Business Intelligence capability
• Build a pilot environment for evaluating the value of networks based linking of data to construct an entity view of tax payers for targeted risk assessment in a behavioural context
• Enable a capability to manage a campaign that aims to ensure higher compliance with the new legislative framework that governs taxation of individuals’ overseas (non UK) investments
The team has also assisted the Department in improving their Knowledge, Analysis and Information (KAI) management processes. We were also asked to rejoin the MoD in the UK to assist with their efforts to merge two significant programmes managing the Nimrod aircraft that are currently in use as well as the replacement version that is being developed. The engagement is currently based in Bristol.
Finally, SMS Management & Technology (UK) supported the Macquarie Infrastructure to acquire the MOTO chain of motorway service stations from the Compas group in 2006. The SMS team worked on key aspects of IT Due Diligence in partnership with the Macquarie team. SMS’ contribution was critical in ensuring that the risk areas and opportunities were well documented. Furthermore, the team also drafted all the IT Separation Agreements and developed the processes for the separation and set up of MOTO’s own IT Infrastructure. We were subsequently engaged to also oversee and implement the separation and set up activities. This is the fifth recent engagement of the SMS M&T (UK) team by Macquarie London in support of major acquisitions that the Bank and its affiliates have made. SMS has a reputation for high calibre independent consulting based on real-world experience, leveraging SMS’s 1,100-plus staff and 20 years of business operation.
